The Gemini Twins were the half-brothers of Helen of Troy. The first, Castor was born to Leda and Spartan King Tyndareus, while Pollux was the son of Zeus, who seduced and raped Leda in the guise of a swan. They became Argonauts with Jason but when Castor was killed his immortal brother was so upset Zeus put them side by side in the heavens.
Babylonians knew the constellation as the Great Twins, Meshlamtaea (The One who has arisen from the Underworld) and Lugalirra (the Mighty King).
