Allen Ginsberg: Poet

A Beat Generation poet, Ginsberg is best remembered for his 1956 poem Howl. This criticised U.S. capitalism and described homosexual acts, and was banned.

Aaron Sorkin: The Social Network

June 9th 1961

An American filmmaker, playwright, and screenwriter, Sorkin won the Academy Award for The Social Network. Aaron Sorkin is credited with popularising extended monologues and fast-paced dialogue in films. He is also known for using single tracking shots of where multiple characters enter and exit the conversation.

Saroo Brierley

May 22nd 1981

Indian-born Australian entrepreneur and author Saroo Brierley was separated from his mother at 5, when he accidentally boarded a train to Howrah station from Burhanpur. He ended up being adopted by an Australian couple. He later found his mother via Google Earth. His autobiography was adapted into the film Lion.

Joan Collins

Sister of renowned author Jackie Collins, this actress is best known for her Golden Globe-winning role of Alexis Carrington in Dynasty. This was an iconic soap of the 1980s. But this Gemini writer has also penned several books, including beauty books, memoirs, and novels. A seasoned theater actor, she also received the DBE and OBE.
